One of my favorite things about living in New York City is taking the spontaneous day trip to Brooklyn. The old industrial warehouses, quiet rows of Victorian brownstones and eclectic mix of people and places to explore are a welcome change of pace to the oversized sounds and skyscrapers on the other side of the East River. More laid back than Manhattan, its lower-decibel atmosphere is the perfect place to recharge your batteries. Whether I'm grabbing a coffee in Williamsburg, strolling the tree-lined streets of Brooklyn Heights or searching for the best vintage shop in DUMBO, it's always fun to see things from a new perspective in BK.
When it's time to head back to the island, I always try to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge—and on a sunny day I'd be hard pressed to make the mile-long journey without a quality pair of sunglasses. Classic and elegant, like the bridge itself, these black polarized shades from Nautica are up to the task. Hanging out in Brooklyn is always a good time, but my favorite part of the trip is coming home—and the view along the way is definitely part of the reason why.
