While double-breasted suits and peak lapels get plenty of attention on these pages, incorporating tailoring into more casual looks is a more realistic picture of how my day-to-day wardrobe functions. Don’t get me wrong, there’s no feeling like putting on a full suit and hitting the town. But these days the opportunity and need for wearing a full suit is temporarily on hold. This presents the opportunity to use tailored pieces in a different way. For instance, these dress trousers pair seamlessly with a cashmere v-neck sweater and loafers. Another example would be pairing a blazer with a t-shirt and jeans. When I’m building my wardrobe I always looks for versatility, even when it comes to tailoring. As I’ve said in the past, Spezzato is a great tool and while it takes some experimenting and practice to master, the concept is especially relevant in 2021.
